Interview with George Kosch, CEO, Worldprofit Inc.

George Kosch, CEO and Co-Founder of Worldprofit Inc, discusses his reflections over the last two years as CEO and his thoughts on the future of the company.

Interviewer:  I understand that Worldprofit, now in it’s 23rd year of business recently underwent some major changes?

George: Yes, Sandi Hunter and myself are the original co-founders of Worldprofit. Recently the two of us, took over 100% of the control, operations and ownership of the company. Sandi Hunter has served as President since the company’s inception in 1994 and she continues in that capacity.  Myself, well two years ago, I transitioned into the role of CEO following the retirement of the former CEO.  I continue to be actively involved with all aspects of training as well as integration of new technologies for the benefit of our Members, but I have taken over more of a leadership role in terms of innovative growth and direction of the company.  Sandi and I are proud of the company we’ve built together and are planning for a strong future in an industry that is growing in leaps and bounds.

Interviewer: What are your reflections on the last 2 years in your position of CEO?

George:  In a word, it’s been “exhilarating!”  We introduced a number of new advertising services to meet the needs of our current Members and to attract new customers unfamiliar with our brand.  We cater to the online business community to service the needs of affiliate marketers and home based business owners and entrepreneurs. When we first started Worldprofit in 1994, Amazon didn’t exist, in fact, 99% of the affiliate marketing companies today didn’t exist. Affiliate marketing was not a common term at that time, nor an accepted method of earning online.   Worldprofit was the first company to successfully offer affiliate marketing within a Membership platform, and it’s the model our company still operates within today. We called it a Dealership but the principle was the same. Refer others to our company and when a sale is made we pay commission to our Members worldwide. Today, thousands and thousands of companies offer some type of affiliate marketing, it’s a reputable way of earning and an accepted practice generating millions of dollars in sales and commissions.  We realized very early on, that affiliate marketing is not an industry going away, it’s one that is growing exponentially.  We saw this as an opportunity for Worldprofit to service the needs of Affiliate marketers. We ourselves offer an Affiliate marketing program, but importantly we wanted to make sure  our Members could use our services, software, traffic and advertising to promote any and all their affiliate programs.  We wanted to be the platform where affiliate marketers could get everything they need to grow their online income, all in one place at Worldprofit.   In the last few years we have focused on increasing the number of resources available to our Members. An important part of this is providing training in marketing, and assistance in using the specialized services proprietary to Worldprofit.  Our focus has been on further expanding our online training program, enhancing our weekly interactive training, and increasing customer service to better meet the needs of our growing Membership.   I developed the Home Business Bootcamp Training program over a decade ago to help people learn the skills they need to build their business, with changes in technology this training must continually be updated and integrated to incorporate new innovations, strategies, social media and more.  Affiliate marketing is easy to do. What’s difficult for most is how to build affiliate marketing in it’s simplest form, into an actual professional online business that generates consistent growing income.   People are attracted to affiliate marketing because anyone can do it from the comfort of their home, laptop, tablet or phone.    Where people get stuck and need help is with the actual business do’s and don’ts.  Operating and growing your own online business can be tough, it’s easy to get frustrated and give up if you aren’t sure what you’re doing.  It’s for this reason, that in addition to the online self-paced bootcamp lessons, I personally conduct a weekly LIVE interactive training program. It gives our Members the opportunity to ask questions, request demonstrations and be part of our home business community of people helping people. I may be CEO now, but I have no plans to give up the hands on training and personalization that has made Worldprofit so unique and long lasting. I’m a Software Engineer, and have created much of the software and special resources available so providing this training keeps me connected with our Members. I really enjoy it and by listening to the needs of our Members, I can tweak existing resources and create more software as technology evolves.

Interviewer: George, what do you see or have planned for the future for Worldprofit?

George:  The future is bright! I see even more companies “affiliatize” their products to expand their market reach to tap into the global reach affiliate marketing provides. I see more people worldwide recognizing that affiliate marketing is a powerful way to earn extra money from multiple reputable sources.  My vision is for Worldprofit to continue to provide affiliate marketers with the tools, resources and training they need to grow their own online business. Our unique, comprehensive platform is built on supporting business owners. Our Members have come to rely on Worldprofit for trusted traffic, personalized training,  proven effective tools and so importantly – help when needed.  Our goal is to assist people to literally change their lives by teaching them how to grow their own successful, profitable online portfolio of website properties that generates income for years to come. People are now far more familiar with websites, blogging, videos, social media – we teach how to turn these tools into profitable sources of income. Consumers have become more savvy, they recognize value and can better filter out the hype. They want value and substance not fluff and false promise.  As the Affiliate Marketing industry grows, people will always need traffic, training and expert support to achieve their business goals, Worldprofit plans to continue to be the best possible source for this market.  We enjoy a symbiotic relationship with our Members, when they succeed, so do we!

If we take a hundred people who graduate from college or university and we follow them through their career, The 45 year plan, at the end of their career

If we take a hundred people who graduate from college or university and we follow them through their career, The 45 year plan, at the end of their career here is what happens to them:
• 29% are Dead• 63% depend on family or state (Dead broke)
,• 4% are well off (Can meet their needs and don’t need charity) • 3% still working, Only 1% are wealthy (Living the lifestyle of their dreams) <———Only 1%

This is the system we are living in right now by concluded market research. This economy is broken! Why is that the case? We have a University system that teaches you how to be a worker drone in the collective! You go to school and get an education, then you get a job and work in the 45 year plan and then you retire and live your golden years depending on other people. What a wonderful concept!

107 million people work for
Corporate America

85 million of them are unhappy
with their jobs

Are you one of them?

We live in a capitalist society, which means ONLY the big dogs eat! If you look at the corporate structure at your job, it is set up in a pyramid structure. CEO at the top (99.9% of the time you will never become CEO), they hire the VP, they hire the area manager, who hires the district manager, who hires supervisors, who hires new employees. Ask yourself, have you ever seen a Lamborghini in rush hour traffic?

Notice the average person, gets up at 8 o’ clock, just like they taught you for middle school, elementary and high school. They tell you when to eat lunch, when to go on break. The average person goes to work from 9 to 5, Mon-Fri, fight traffic in the morning, fight traffic on their way home, come home, eat, watch tv, go to sleep only to do the same thing for 40 years and they retire with nothing. Don’t believe me, go to Wal-Mart, Meijer, or K-Mart at night time, what do you see, old people claiming to be retired greeting at the door because their money ran out and they had to go back to work. I know I don’t want to work until I’m 65. What about you? Really 71 now. Social Security is going to be gone for us. Baby boomers are retiring. If each baby boomer retired today, the government would owe them 72 trillion dollars. Wow. They are saying we will work until we are 71. What is the purpose of going on vacation is you are hunchback and can barely move?

401K is a joke because most people can’t max it out. So what happens if that person lives to be 86. They will be living off $7,000 a year when they are used to making $40-$60,000. You have to pay attention. Why isn’t this taught in school? Because they government has to survive. It didn’t work for my parents, their parents, my friend’s parents. Don’t live average. The government will use you like a robot.

Look at school system, the average student probably pays $4-7,000 a semester. Not to mention books, then they tell you that edition is not being used anymore, so you have no refund. When you come out of school, you are in debt. Most people spend their whole life paying that debt off, not to mention the interest on it! Don’t forget about parking fees, food. College and the school system is a business. Pyramid shaped as well. President, VP, dean, department heads, professors, then the students at the bottom. It is a system, and we have been tricked. We have been programmed not to dream big. “Don’t get your hopes high” (Are your hopes supposed to be low). “Too good to be true”, “Why are you so happy?”

Even the government. President at the top, VP under him, congress, senate, state government, municipal then the taxpayers at the bottom. Ever wonder why Rich people get tax benefits and poor/middle class people don’t? Poor people say get a safe secure job. Rich people say build a business.

14 Lessons in Life for High Schoolers

“This list is the work of Charles J. Sykes, author of the 1996 book Dumbing Down Our Kids: Why American Children Feel Good About Themselves But Can’t Read, Write, Or Add. (Sykes’ list was published in numerous newspapers, although it did not appear in his 1996 book. It did, however, form the meat of Sykes’ 2007 book, 50 Rules Kids Won’t Learn in School: Real-World Antidotes to Feel-Good Education.)”  Aha! The truth will out!

Well — finally — what are these (actually 14) rules kids won’t learn? Actually they are quite helpful and worthy for both parents and (especially high school) kids to absorb. Here they are:

Rule No. 1:   Life is not fair. Get used to it. The average teen-ager uses the phrase “It’s not fair” 8.6 times a day. You got it from your parents, who said it so often you decided they must be the most idealistic generation ever. When they started hearing it from their own kids, they realized Rule No. 1.

Rule No. 2:   The real world won’t care as much about your self-esteem as much as your school does. It’ll expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself. This may come as a shock. Usually, when inflated self-esteem meets reality, kids complain that it’s not fair. (See Rule No. 1)

Rule No. 3:   Sorry, you won’t make $40,000 a year right out of high school. And you won’t be a vice president or have a car phone either. You may even have to wear a uniform that doesn’t have a Gap label.

Rule No. 4:   If you think your teacher is tough, wait ’til you get a boss. He doesn’t have tenure, so he tends to be a bit edgier. When you screw up, he’s not going to ask you how you feel about it.

Rule No. 5:   Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping. They called it opportunity. They weren’t embarrassed making minimum wage either. They would have been embarrassed to sit around talking about Kurt Cobain all weekend.

Rule No. 6:   It’s not your parents’ fault. If you screw up, you are responsible. This is the flip side of “It’s my life,” and “You’re not the boss of me,” and other eloquent proclamations of your generation. When you turn 18, it’s on your dime. Don’t whine about it, or you’ll sound like a baby boomer.

Rule No. 7:   Before you were born your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way paying your bills, cleaning up your room and listening to you tell them how idealistic you are. And by the way, before you save the rain forest from the blood-sucking parasites of your parents’ generation, try delousing the closet in your bedroom.

Rule No. 8:   Your school may have done away with winners and losers. Life hasn’t. In some schools, they’ll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. Failing grades have been abolished and class valedictorians scrapped, lest anyone’s feelings be hurt. Effort is as important as results. This, of course, bears not the slightest resemblance to anything in real life. (See Rule No. 1, Rule No. 2 and Rule No. 4.)

Rule No. 9:   Life is not divided into semesters, and you don’t get summers off. Not even Easter break. They expect you to show up every day. For eight hours. And you don’t get a new life every 10 weeks. It just goes on and on. While we’re at it, very few jobs are interested in fostering your self-expression or helping you find yourself. Fewer still lead to self-realization. (See Rule No. 1 and Rule No. 2.)

Rule No. 10:   Television is not real life. Your life is not a sitcom. Your problems will not all be solved in 30 minutes, minus time for commercials. In real life, people actually have to leave the coffee shop to go to jobs. Your friends will not be as perky or pliable as Jennifer Aniston.

Rule No. 11:   Be nice to nerds. You may end up working for them. We all could.

Rule No. 12:   Smoking does not make you look cool. It makes you look moronic. Next time you’re out cruising, watch an 11-year-old with a butt in his mouth. That’s what you look like to anyone over 20. Ditto for “expressing yourself” with purple hair and/or pierced body parts.

Rule No. 13:   You are not immortal. (See Rule No. 12.) If you are under the impression that living fast, dying young and leaving a beautiful corpse is romantic, you obviously haven’t seen one of your peers at room temperature lately.

Rule No. 14:   Enjoy this while you can. Sure parents are a pain, school’s a bother, and life is depressing. But someday you’ll realize how wonderful it was to be a kid. Maybe you should start now. You’re welcome.

***

Great stuff, eh? I might add a Rule No. 15: “Believe less than half of what you read on the Internet and even less of what you see. The integrity you save may be your own.” Moms and Dads, feel free to pass Sykes’ Rules along to your children. They would be great college prep material.

YOUR money is in THEIR pocket. What you have to do to get it out!

by Dr. Jeffrey Lant

I’ve taught marketing for more years than I care
to remember. The biggest challenge is getting
students to understand how marketing works.
What is it? Why do you need it? How do  you get
the biggest return?

To answer these questions, I came up with
a simple image that works wonders: YOUR
money is in THEIR pocket. Do you want it to
stay there… or do you want to get the funds
into YOUR pocket?
Bingo!

Light bulbs start going on  around the class
room as one student after another “gets it.”
Of course they want to get their money out of
that pocket. We’re ALL clear on that. The
discussion then shifts to how to get it out…
and how to do it FAAAST!

The Pivotal Role Of The Offer
“Try this,” I say to the class: walk up to someone
on the street and ask them for $50. Will you
get it? Unlikely. Instead be prepared for dirty
looks and worse. “Asking,” I say, “ain’t getting.”
The students nod their heads knowingly. They’ve
been there… done that.
“Ok,” I say. You guys get this. Then why don’t these
folks, at which I show them one marketing
communication after another (Yellow Pages ad,
brochure, direct mail letter, etc.) where supposedly
savvy business people spent good money doing
nothing more than saying “Here we are, here’s
what we have.”

“That,” I say “is not marketing. It’s just telling…
not selling.” If you want to make MONEY… YOU
must motivate people to part with the bucks.
Offers Get People To Move
What gets people to buy is offers, offers, and
more offers… saying, in effect, I’m prepared
to give you
* this
* and this
* and this
IF and ONLY IF you take action now to
get what I’m selling.
“What,” I ask the class, “is more likely to get
you to respond: just saying here I am, here’s what
I do.” OR saying

“I’ll give you one hour free for every three hours
of my service you book.”
All knowing, the students say “people will act faster
if you give them MORE.” Now it’s my turn to nod
sagely. “Bingo,” sez I.

Brain storm offers all the time… because you will
need an offer EVERY day you want to empty
prospects’ pockets and move that money
I ask the students what days they want to profit
in their businesses. They look quizzical: “Well,

EVERY day,” they say.
Another “Bingo” from me.

“So, if you want to make money EVERY day…
then when do you need to make offers?”
ANOTHER “Aha!” moment for my budding
marketing masters. The idea is beginning to
sink in that EVERY day you want to move money
from your prospects’ pockets is a day you must
make offers.

“Make offers,” I say, “every day you want to
make money.” And I write “Money means daily
offers” on the chalk board.

Open A “Swipe File”

Where can you find marketing intelligence, great
offers that produce the bucks? In the marketing
communications of people who live or die by marketing.
And where do you find these? Everywhere!
If you want to move money from other people’s
pockets into yours, start collecting and studying
marketing communications. Open a “swipe file,”
and pop in marketing communications that work.
Make this a daily endeavor. When you see ads
that work for others, adapt the copy for your
profitable use.
Don’t Stop!

Marketing is like breathing. Stop doing it and
you die. Finish any day by selecting the offer
you’ll use tomorrow. Start each day by reviewing
how well yesterday’s offer pulled. Note these
results for future reference; winning ads should
be repeated; ads that wilted must die.
One more thing: see marketing as a great game,
a game that takes everything you’ve got. Embrace it!
Enjoy it! If you don’t, your money will stay in THEIR
pocket and that’s just not acceptable!

CAN “SENATOR SCOLD”, THAT IS ELIZABETH WARREN, STOP BOSSING AMERICA TO BECOME PRESIDENT?

Picture

By Dr. Jeffrey Lant

I have always taken a great interest in the Presidency of the United States. I’ve wanted to know who was elected, who was defeated, and what happened next. I just cannot get enough, and I know readers are in the same boat.

Everything any President does is hot news, subject to instant analysis and argumentation. In this connection, I am especially interested in the burgeoning candidacy of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). She clearly wants to run in 2020, and is making all the old familiar moves.

Since her two-story Victorian home is just a few blocks from where I live and am writing you now, my interest is more tense than it usually is. I mean, how are we going to install a helipad in our ultra-packed neighborhood? Where are we going to put the Secret Service agents? Where will the journalists covering her hang their hats?

This is problem enough, and when I ask people in the neighborhood about these things, I am pleased to tell you that no one but me has given any attention to these issues at all – just me.

Of course, each and every one of them has an answer, but not worth too much trouble until she demonstrates that she may well end up as the President of the United States. However this may never take place. First, because of the Massachusetts Curse.

Massachusetts has nominated more candidates for President than any other state in the nation, including big ones like New York and California. In recent years, some of the best and brightest Americans of both parties have been nominated and then crushed in the Presidential election, thereby making Massachusetts Presidential and Vice Presidential poison.

Senator Henry Cabot Lodge was on the 1960 Nixon ticket. John F. Kennedy, of course, headed the 1960 Democratic ticket. Michael Dukakis, Democratic nominee, was on the 1988 ticket. The next one was Mitt Romney, who headed the 2012 Republican ticket. All were defeated except JFK.

The next potential Massachusetts Presidential Candidate is Senator Elizabeth Warren. Will the curse capture her? I think there are good reasons to suppose so, and the prime one of these reasons may well be the fact that she sounds like everybody’s mother in law… nagging, hectoring, determined to have the last word on every subject. Is America ready for a White House nag?

Hillary Clinton tried this stubborn carping approach that boiled down to this failed formula: “I know everything in the whole wide world, and you better listen to me, because you don’t know squat.” Understandably, this approach to the important business of changing America, correcting the flaws, and improving her in every aspect, did not go down well with the American electorate, particularly men, who found Hillary insufferable, and her mode of information distribution irritating in the extreme.

Despite the fact that she was America’s best funded and arguably smartest candidate ever, she took it on the chin, because particularly men in the West, Midwest, and South had enough criticism at home everyday from their nagging wives… She Who Must be Obeyed. They didn’t like it at home (thank God for the golf course), and they didn’t like the thought of it for the White House… and so the “cannot be lost” election became a historic nightmare for the Democratic party.

Before I go further, let me state unequivocally that Elizabeth Warren is a smart cookie. But, she needs better advice than she’s been given. Consider the way she handled the matter of a $400,000 speaker’s fee to be given to former President Barack Obama. The story broke on April 28th, 2017, just the other day. The payment in question came from a large Wall St. firm with substantial interests in the healthcare industry.

Elizabeth Warren jumped on this matter immediately, and soon the world knew that she was “troubled” by the Obama speaking fee. Now here is where judgment comes in. Imagine the situation. Obama opens an envelope, and there inside is a pledge for $400,000. He is not a rich man; never has been. He has no particular capital, and pretty much has to live on his income, which includes his White House pension. You can imagine how happy Michelle was when she learned about this plum.

And then, the manure hit the fan. Just think for a second what Michelle said, and what you would have said if someone offered you a chance to clear off some nagging bills merely by giving a 60 minute presentation. Then Elizabeth Warren did what she always does… she scolded, she criticized, she yapped, and tisk-tisked Obama.

I think we can all guess which word the exasperated Obamas would use to describe Elizabeth Warren’s interference in a manner which was quintessential American politics. Can you guess the word? It starts with a “b”. “Just where does Elizabeth Warren get off criticizing us?” That kind of comment rancors, and can simmer for years to come.

The thing we all need to realize about politics is that little things often count for more than big things. The littlest things produce welts and acute irritation. This was a situation tailor made for Senator Warren to shut up and keep her mouth closed. But the lady is constitutionally unable to let small things go by the wayside. And one of these things is you do not criticize a former President from your own party about a matter which is perfectly legal and customary.

However, Elizabeth Warren is famous for lack of discretion and people skills. This may not matter much in her Harvard Law School classes. After all, these pirhanas will do anything to get an A… even when they know their professor is wrong. You won’t find any of them out on the street corner hammering their professors. That’s just out of the question.

One of the things that constantly bothers Senator Warren is the role of banks and financial institutions in the government of the United States. Thus, every chance she gets to clobber the financial institution industry, she takes it, despite the fact that she is a card carrying capitalist herself, with a magnificent Victorian home worth close to $2 million dollars, a salary of nearly half a million dollars a year (currently suspended because of her Senate term), and a net worth of over $15 million dollars.

“The lady doth protest too much, methinks”

A few facts you should be aware of regarding Elizabeth Warren and campaign finance. Despite her constant jeremiads on the subject of campaign finance, as of 2017, she had $4.8 million in her account. This was more than any other Democrat up for re-election next year had in their account. It is also $1 million more than any other Democrat in the Senate, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) aside.

Needless to say, Elizabeth Warren never troubles to discuss the financial resources that she has available for her re-election campaign in 2018, and whatever resources are available for her to give in key states where she would have to do well to stand any chance of being the Democratic nominee in 2020, presumably against President Trump and his re-election bid.

Elizabeth Warren now finds herself in a position where White House dreams may dance in her head like so many sugar plums; however to win she must make some major adjustments and make them immediately. First, America does not require a comment from Senator Warren on every single thing on the national agenda. What she needs to do now is do the behind the scenes grunt work that every Presidential candidate needs to master.

1) That is to say, identifying potential donors, and continuing to build significant fundraising lists.

2) Work the phones. She should be aware of and in touch with key Democrats, including all the Democrats who were elected as delegates to the 2016 Democratic National Convention. It is likely at least three quarters of the delegates who were active in 2016 will be active again in 2020. Everyday Senator Warren’s staff should hand her a list of 15-20 calls. She should stay in her office, establishing beneficial contact with these people, and of course, always asking for their tangible financial support.

The Yapper

If she continues to comment on absolutely everything, she will turn off people who might otherwise agree with her and be willing to assist. But no one, absolutely no one, wants candidates for President who comment on absolutely everything. That turns electors off and ensures that they will ultimately stop paying attention. Senator Warren might very well fall into this pit.

But there is still more. She has gained a national reputation with a populist message that would do William Jennings Bryan (1860-1925) proud. In case your history is a bit rusty, consider this: in 1896 Bryan took over the Democratic party with his message of powerful populism. His speech before the Democratic National Convention in Chicago electrified not just the party, but the nation, and caused every Republican to quail, for fear that the peasants were at the gate, armed with pitchforks and vituperation.

The final two lines of Bryan’s speech were:

“Having behind us the commercial interests and the laboring interests and all the toiling masses, we shall answer their demands for a gold standard by saying to them, you shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns. You shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold.”

The capitalist interests of the nation were terrified at what this young messiah could do to their vested interests. But a funny thing happens when the rhetoric of the people comes before the nation. The interest of capitalism in these circumstances do what is necessary to maintain their interests, and ensure mere demagoguery will not succeed.

What does this mean for Elizabeth Warren? Simply this: that throughout the history of the United States, populists have gone forth on crusades to bolster what they see are the perogatives of the people. But each time these populists have gone for the people, these self-same people not only fail in their objective, but are crushed.

And so Elizabeth Warren, who has proclaimed herself the people’s advocate, will likely wake up the day after the next election only to find that what seemed so promising in the matter of gaining her party’s nomination, and a place on the national ballot, came a cropper in the election box.

Thus Senator Warren needs to re-think her position and approach, or else she may find herself the latest victim of the Massachusetts Curse. For while her vision of America may well be sufficiently clear in Massachusetts, it is popular nowhere else.

Education Is The Key To Your Online Success. Here’s where you get it!

Education Is The Key To Your Online Success.
Here’s where you get it!

By Dr. Jeffrey Lant

Think of all the time you have spent in your
life in educational endeavors. Personally, I
started going to school at age 5 and finished
up my Ph.D. from Harvard University 23 years
later. That’s a big chunk of a life!

Your education is one of the most valuable
things you’ve got. What’s more, you know that
you’ve got to keep learning to stay on the
cutting-edge of the fastest-changing society
in history.

So, having said this, just how much Internet
education have you had? How many Internet
courses have you taken? How many hours have
you spent learning from qualified instructors
about what it takes to succeed online? I’m
guessing you’ve never had even a single MINUTE’s
training in how to profit online.

Don’t you think that’s ironic?

The sad fact is that in a world that spends
TRILLIONS of dollars on education, very few
people indeed have had any professional
instruction in how to succeed online and make
predictable online income. Result: mass online
failure.

Worldprofit.com And George Kosch To The Rescue

I’m going to introduce you now to a man and his

Massachusetts decided to do back in 1636 when
they founded Harvard College, the first such
institution in North America. He decided to set
up the world’s first online educational institution
dedicated to showing average people in any business
precisely how the Internet works and how to make
consistent, predictable profit from it, the
training objective being to make a minimum of
$100,000 a year online. He called it the Millionaire
Bootcamp. He could have called in the Harvard of the
Web.

Twice weekly Instructor Kosch makes live online
presentations delivering the crucial information
you need about achieving online success. Each

Warning! This Is The Best News You’ve Ever

to tell you about the Internet and how you
can make money online — whatever business you’re

How to turn your child into a GUARANTEED Millionaire

by Dr. Jeffrey Lant
Do you love your children?
Would you do anything to ensure their life-long
well-being?
Of course, you say!
Then, why aren’t you instructing them in how to
get RICH?
The plain fact is, the overwhelming majority of
parents have a “que sera sera” approach to
the crucial business of training their children
in GUARANTEED wealth building. This is a HUGE
error. Instructing your children in how to get rich
has at least as much or an even greater pay-off than
any immunization, sports mastery, or school
degree. Yet you’re currently not doing anything
about it!
That needs to change at once.
1) Start as early as age 5.
Becoming a GUARANTEED millionaire is as
much a function of time as anything else. Thus,
the earlier you get started instilling good wealth-
building habits, the better. Five is an excellent
place to start! Kids already older than five? Don’t
give up on that account! Just because you can’t
start at the ideal time doesn’t mean you
shouldn’t start at all.
2) Make wealth-building a game.
Growing a fortune means developing good
habits. But just because they’re good doesn’t
mean they have to be dull or onerous. Set
aside time each week for the “Let’s make
Bobby rich” game. Make getting rich light,
fun, and a great opportunity to get to know
your child better.
3) Explain the mission
Even 5 year olds understand that living well
has lots of advantages. More of this, more of
that. Your job is to show them how good
financial habits deliver the goodies — for life.
4) Open the pot with a couple of bucks
To start your child’s financial education and
the good wealth-building habits of a lifetime,
start off by putting just $5 in the pot. Make
it clear that this number will be steadily
augmented as the child helps around the
house: 10 cents for making the bed… an
extra quarter for walking the dog. It’s
essential that the child’s desire for “more”
be whetted as soon as possible and that
you incentivize as much as possible.
Never just give an allowance. Earning is
necessary in the real world… and the sooner
your children understand this, the better!
5) Put the money in the bank
As soon as possible, open a bank account in
your child’s name. Call the bank to ascertain
the minimum for this all-important first account.
Then go to the bank.
Make this trip an event. Dress up. Explain you’re
talking your darling to a VERY important place.
Make sure to say these people are helpful and
want to be your friend and help you achieve a
better life.
Note: call ahead to see who will be available
to see you. Explain what you’re doing. Bankers
are human, too (really!) and can get into the
spirit of this enterprise. After all, you’re bringing
future customers!
More: if you have several children, make sure
to bring the others with you. These visits are good
for refining manners and getting live account
updates.
6) Switch from bank savings accounts to
no-load mutual funds as soon as you have
the minimum in your account.
No load mutual funds (with automatic dividend
and income reinvestment) are a better way to
grow capital than mere savings accounts. Before
switching, talk to your banker about what he may
have available. ALWAYS take your children
with you when these discussions occur. The
more familiar they are with what’s happening with
their money, the better.
7) Don’t stop your meetings and don’t touch
the capital!
We have a useful expression here in frugal New
England: “Start as you mean to go on.” What
that means is, make time for this all-important
financial education. Don’t stop because you miss
a week, or even a month. That’s what they say
in diet classes… and the same is true here.
Remember, what you’re doing is essential for
your child’s well-being.
One More Thing
In so far as humanly possible, DON’T touch your
child’s capital, even for college. A college education
is NOT the objective. Being rich is. That means
regarding your capital as sacred.
Follow these steps, and you’ll have the satisfaction
of seeing your child rich, a bona fide millionaire.
Guaranteed! Uncork the champagne. You’ve earned
it. Your children are lucky to have such excellent
parents!
