Mr. de Balkany was well known in cosmopolitan European circles as a bold, far-seeing, and gutsy player in the ultra high end furniture and objet d’art markets. His collection is worth mega millions of dollars.
Lucky for me, just moments ago, I collected the Russian silver dressing mirror dated 1876. It obviously had an important provenance. There is a Royal Princess’s or Archduchess’s coronet mounted at the top of the mirror.
