The best way to build multiple streams of income on the Internet is not to start trying to build multiple potential online income streams, but to start with just one online business programme and to build up from there.

The reason for this is that the vast majority of newbie Internet marketers find it difficult enough to make a profit promoting just one online business programme, so to take on multiple programs from the start really makes no sense at all. For a start, promoting just one online business programme to the point where you are covering your expenses and pulling in a profit on top takes time, effort, and money.

Even if you promote all your programs in a single business package, you will still find that it is an expensive process to successfully market your business. For example, if you make it a condition that prospects must join every single program in your business, then you will find it much more difficult to recruit paying affiliates. On the other hand, if you allow your potential affiliates to pick and choose from among your several businesses, you will be diluting your efforts as one chooses one program and another chooses another.

What usually results from this is that the newbie market spends far too much money promoting too many businesses and chasing too few prospects. Starting with multiple programmes usually ends in business collapse and empty pockets.

So what should you do if you still hope to generate multiple streams of income from your Internet business?

Don’t despair! There is a much better way to build multiple streams of income on the Internet. Here it is:

It makes much more sense to become an expert promoter of just Internet business programme at the beginning of your online career. It will cost you less money and you will be able to focus much more intensely on learning everything you can about that business. It will be much easier to become an expert and also to duplicate your efforts by teaching your team members everything you have learned.

I want to emphasise that the key is to building multiple streams of income is to become an expert in your online business programme and to train everybody who joins your team.

As you become more successful at promoting your business, you will inevitably come to rely on a range of useful promotional tools and Internet business services such as web hosting, auto responders, graphic design agencies, article writing and distribution services, traffic exchanges, directory submitters, splash page makers, and so on.

Many of these products and services come with their own affiliate program. Whenever you find a product or service that helps you build your business, be sure to join the affiliate program.

Now, when you train your team members to duplicate your success in your primary business, you will want to introduce them to the tools that help you to succeed. Your team will appreciate that you are helping them to achieve success in their business and will therefore be much more likely to buy into the tools and services that help you to succeed.

This is a win-win situation for everybody involved. Your team will stand a much greater chance of succeeding if they follow your training instructions. As they buy into the services that you recommend, you will begin to build multiple streams of income. You will also be able to plough a percentage of your profit back into promoting your primary business.

This strategy will create a virtuous circle for you, your sponsor, your primary business, and all the other businesses whose products you recommend to your team members, and finally it will help your team to succeed and to build their

New Year’s Resolutions For Internet Marketers

The New Year’s holiday is a great time to take look at your Internet marketing resolutions for the coming year. However, as everybody knows, the problem with making New Year’s resolutions is that few people actually keep them. Very often New Year’s resolutions are too vague, or focus only on the negative.

One mistake people make is to inadequately set out their resolutions. When you make a resolution, you are usually promising yourself that you will behave in a certain way in order to achieve a certain goal for a particular reason within a certain timeframe. In other words, a resolution, to stand any chance of being effective, should include four elements: behaviour, goal, reason, timeframe. What you want to achieve? Why do you want to achieve it? When you want to achieve it by and what would you do in order to achieve it?

With that in mind, here are a few tips to help Internet marketers set better business goals for the coming year.

1. Evaluation: Take a long hard look at the progress your Internet marketing business made in 2009. Did you achieve your goals for the year? If not, why not? Perhaps your resolutions were not well defined and lacked one of the key elements I have just outlined. Or perhaps they were not really the best goals for your business. Take some notes, or even write a letter to yourself and analysing your business achievements and failures. By taking the time to analyse your progress, you will prepare the ground for setting some good resolutions for the coming year.

2. Goal Setting: Now think about what it is that you really want to achieve your business in 2010. Write your goals as clearly as possible. Exactly how much money do you want to make in 2010? Or how many sales do you want to make? By what percentage you want to increase conversions? If you are aiming to improve certain skills such as designing web graphics, then state clearly what it is that you will design using your new skills in 2010. The more specific you can make your goals the better.

3. Purpose: Why do you want to achieve these particular goals? You must have a clear reason or purpose, a strong “why”, and you must state it with passion. Napoleon Hill called it a “consuming obsession” and a “burning desire”.

4. Timeframe: Successful marketers always set time frames for their goals. You must do the same. Give your Internet business resolutions clear time limits and immediately you will have improved your chances of achieving them. It is also a good idea to set down on paper how much progress you want to have made towards your business goals within each quarter of the year. When you set a time target for achieving your goals, you will always be aware of how much progress you are making towards them. It is a great way of keeping yourself in check.

5. Behaviour: What will you do, or how will you behave, in order to achieve your goal? This is where the firmness of purpose behind every successful resolution comes into play. For every goal you set, there are things you need to do and things you need to avoid doing. When you evaluate the previous year’s achievements and failures, think about how your behaviour helped or hindered your progress towards your goals. Achieving your goals requires adopting certain habits of action and thought. Before you can begin to do the right thing, you need to start thinking the right thing. Every action begins in thought, and so you need to get your thoughts under control, cut out negative thinking, and develop the habit of positive, goal oriented thinking in order to do what you need to do.

6: Write it down: Write down your resolutions and refer to them several times a day. Write them as clearly as possible. Make sure each resolution answers all four questions that I outlined earlier in this article. A strong resolution will read something like this:

“In 2010 I will do (X behaviour) to achieve (Y goal) by (Z timeframe) because I would love to/so that I can (ABC reason).”

Keep a copy of your resolutions in a handy place, such as your wallet, or notebook, or pinned up on your wall where you will see it often. Repeat your resolutions out loud, make them your own, obsess over them, keep yourself to account because of them, believe in them and in 2018 you will stand a good chance of achieving your Internet marketing business goals.

In my previous article I began to discuss how you can use basic keyword research to help you find viable affiliate products to sell on your website. Let’s look at this concept in more detail.

For example, if you are interested in fishing, then a site dedicated to one type of fishing such as “fly fishing” will be much easier to succeed with than a more generic site that tries to cater to all types of fishing interests.

The term is targeted on a particular niche that belongs to a popular hobby. It is a specific without being too narrow. You will be able to experiment with longer keywords containing the term flyfishing to attract very specific traffic to different pages on your website such as “salmon fly fishing”, “dry fly fishing” and so on.

In this way, by using basic keyword research to discover longer keyword phrases that include your main keyword term, and by creating webpages specifically dealing with those keyword terms, you will find that your website almost builds itself. The keyword phrases show you what you should be writing about, and the more of these keyword-based webpages you add to your website, the more traffic you will attract to your website over the long term, and the more business you will generate.

But wait a minute, you still don’t have a product to sell, do you…

To continue with our example of a flyfishing website, a simple way to find out whether there are any products out there that you could promote on your flyfishing website would be to run a search on Google for the keywords “fly fishing affiliate” or other related terms. You’ll quickly discover quite a wide range of products out there aimed at the flyfishing market. So now, all you have to do is to review each product and join the affiliate programs of those which you think you’re intended target market will find most attractive.

A good tip here is to buy the products and try them out yourself. In this way, you will be able to market their much more effectively on your website. You will be able to write honest reviews of each product that you have bought and tested. You’ll be able to talk about each product from a perspective of a customer with in-depth knowledge. This will add credibility to what you have to say on your website, as well is giving you plenty of unique content to post on it, and that in turn will attract the attention of the search engines.

It will also position you are in the market as something of an expert in the field. You should aim to capitalise on this by starting writing a blog about flyfishing or whatever your chosen Beria of expertise is to be. Don’t know how to start a blog? Simply go to blogger.com or WordPress.com and follow the instructions! Just as with websites, nowadays you don’t need to know anything about the coding behind the blog platform that you are going to use.

The best sort of blogs are quite personal, so you could fill it with reports about your flyfishing expeditions, and talk about flyfishing kit that you have been using and your flyfishing adventures and misadventures. Any time you mention something that you feature on your website be sure to post a link through to it.

In this way you will be building up to valuable resources for your Internet marketing success, a unique website and a unique blog. The one will support the other and they will both contribute to making you a recognised expert in your field. And the beauty of the Internet today is that there is only great resources out there that you can achieve all of this without knowing a single thing about how to build a website or a blog. All you need are a few readily available online tools and some basic keyword research.

For a lot of people with no experience of building and marketing websites, the idea of starting a home based business on the Internet seems like an almost impossible dream.

Yet, starting an Internet business has never been easier for complete beginners, whether you are looking at starting a website from scratch with free start-up service such as weekly.com, or with a pre-designed site with everything “plugged in” and setup for you such as the Plug-In Profite Site, or if you are looking for a complete package that will take you through the process of building and marketing your website with a service such as sitebuildit.com, to name just three popular website building services that will save you the expense of having to pay somebody to build you a website.

In each of the three examples that I have just cited, and in many others that are available on the Internet, you can either have a website built for you, or you can build it without needing to know anything about HTML or any other website building language. Clearly, starting an Internet business is not as difficult as you might imagine.

But what if you don’t have a product to sell?

Fortunately for you, there are many companies out there which offer Internet-based affiliate programs where you can earn commission on the products that you sell through your website. An ideal way to start is to begin with something that interests you, especially something that you have built up a degree of knowledge about and that is likely to have a viable online market to pitch to.

Some research on Google and other places may give you an indication of whether or not your area of interest has anything to offer from an Internet marketing point of view.

One free Google tool that you can uses the Google Keyword research tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. This tool will show you how many searches have been made for particular search terms on the Google search engine.

For example, if you are interested in the idea of selling stamps from Hungary on the Internet, you could check the search term “Hungarian postage stamps” using this tool, only to discover that fewer than fifty searches a month are made for that term. As far as making money on the Internet goes, there does not seem to be much potential for Hungarian postage stamps at the time of writing this article.

On the other hand, more than 200,000 searches per month are made for the term “postage stamps”, so a complete beginner may struggle to get his or her website seen against so much competition.

In short, the more specific your area of interest is, the easier it will be for you to attract targeted traffic to your website, because there will be fewer sites competing for the traffic. However, you want to make sure that there is still enough traffic for you to be able to build a business with. There need to be at least one or two thousand searches per month for the terms you are chasing.

In my next article I will look more closely at how you can use keywords to help you build your website and attract a natural flow of traffic to it.

As we have seen in this article, when it comes to starting an Internet business, there are plenty of services out there to help you get a website up and running even if you have no prior experience of building a site, and there are even more products on the market that you can sell on your site to generate affiliate commissions.

The Indirect Approach to Network Marketing on the Internet

With the indirect approach you do not mention your Internet marketing program at all to your leads in the initial stages of your relationship. Instead, you offer your prospects some other product that appeals to a similar niche in the market as your network marketing program is appealing to.

The product should offer high-value at a relatively low price that will nevertheless generate a small profit for you. It will be even more effective if you can offer a unique product, something that you create yourself, such as the report, or an e-book, or an audio or video training course.

Whenever somebody purchases the product, they will have to opt in to your mailing list in order to receive the download link. Tell your customers that they will also gain access to your business newsletter.

When you write your newsletter, be sure to fill it with valuable information and advice about your niche market. Keep it friendly and entertaining. Focus on informing and entertaining your subscribers rather than on selling your network marketing business. Talk about your successes and failures, about what works and what doesn’t work in Internet marketing. It will then be enough simply to post a link to your network marketing website in the postscript of your newsletter.

This indirect method of promoting your Internet marketing business is often referred to as a “funded proposal” because it offers a way for you to generate “funds” and then to “propose” your business program to your customers. It is a softer approach that has several benefits. In the first place, by selling a one-off product on the “front-end” you will be able to generate the funds that you need in order to promote your business from the outset. Meanwhile, you will be quietly promoting your Internet marketing business on the backend through your e-mail newsletter series.

Selling a value packed product on the front-end will also set you on a good footing with your subscribers before you have even mentioned your network marketing business. They will have done business with you, and they will be receiving useful information from you and so they will be more inclined to trust you when you recommend other products and services, especially if you do not constantly try to sell to them. The key to Internet marketing success is to build strong personal relationships, and this method set you off on the right foot from the beginning with your new customers.

Since your advice is useful to them, they will be much more likely to continue reading your newsletters. When you consider that most people only buy a product after they have been exposed to it several times over, you are going to stand a much greater chance of recruiting prospects to your network marketing business if you can get them to read several of your newsletters.

Both the direct and indirect approach are viable models for promoting an Internet network marketing business. There is no reason why you could not run parallel direct and indirect campaigns, and split test each campaign so that you can gradually improve your results over time.

Nevertheless, if you are starting out on a low budget, then I would recommend that you master the indirect approach first as a way to fund your business on the front-end or selling your network marketing program on the backend.

How do you recruit people to join your network marketing business on the Internet?

There are two tried and tested approaches which can in fact be used together to make a very powerful selling system. They are the direct

approach and the indirect approach. In this article I will look at the direct approach to promoting your network marketing business, and in my next article I will discuss the benefits of the indirect approach.

The direct approach to network marketing on the Internet

The “direct approach” does not mean sending traffic straight to your network marketing sales page. That is far too direct!

Instead, direct your web traffic to a lead capture page which has been designed to arouse curiosity in your network marketing company so that as many leads as possible will opt in to receive further information about the business offer.

Write an exclusive free report about your network marketing business and offer it as an incentive on your lead capture page to increase your chances of getting people to opt in.

When people opt in, they will be presented with two sources of information about your online network marketing business, (1) your free report and (2) your email newsletters. Both your free report and your e-mail newsletters will include links to the recruiting page of your network marketing business. The job of your report and your e-mail newsletters is to presell your subscribers so that they will be much more likely to sign up to your business offer.

So, the direct approach is one that promotes your network marketing business from the moment someone arrives on your lead capture page. They will be aware from the beginning that you want them to join a particular network marketing business, and if they opt in to receive further information they are in effect giving you permission to promote that business to them in more detail.

To make this direct approach more effective, it makes sense to design different lead capture pages for different sources of web traffic. For example, a lead capture page that is designed for traffic exchanges should have much less information on it than a lead capture page that is designed for a Google ad words PPC campaign. On the traffic exchanges you only have a few seconds to get your message across. On the other hand, it makes sense to use a text rich lead capture page for an Adwords campaign as Google tends to give preference to pages that are full of unique content.

In my next article I will discuss the benefits

Is Your Email Marketing Campaign Profiting From Freebie Seekers?

The goal of email marketing is to build a mailing list comprised of the most responsive buyers.  Unfortunately, this is rarely a reality.  Most lists are largely comprised of freebie seekers who, if they are not utilized correctly, can cost you time and money.  The key is understanding how you can still make money from a list that is full of freebie seekers.

Many experts will tell you that over time, you can build a relationship with your list subscribers and turn almost every freebie seeker into a buyer. And the experts are right. Your long term aim should be to develop a relationship based on trust and recognition with every single name on your mailing list.

Nevertheless, that should not stop you from profiting in the short term. You see, freebie seekers are one thing: predictable.  If you offer them something for free, they are likely to take it.  The key to profitable email marketing campaign is to find ways to profit from their freebie seeking nature.

1.    Send Them to the Right Place

If your list is full of freebie seekers, why not send them to a page that is monetized correctly.  Instead of posting all of your content inside your email, post just enough content to wet their appetite.  Then include a link to a page that has adsense ads.  If you don’t want to clutter your page with adsense or other PPC publisher alternatives, then you can sell ad space.  Your page will have a lot viewers from your list and you can monetize that by selling ad space.  In short, send the freebie seekers to a place where you can make some money from them, even without them making a purchase.

Additionally, since they have followed a link away from your email, they can no longer unsubscribe so you can send them a follow up email. Also the fact that they clicked the link suggests that they have found your email message worth reading and useful. Again, they will be less likely to unsubscribe when they receive your email follow up.

2.    Lead Generation

There are many other list owners or other lead generation options that can make your email marketing campaign profitable.  In this case, you can introduce your freebie seekers to a promotion that is offering something for free.  When your freebie seekers sign up, you get paid for every lead that you create.  While you will often get only a few dollars per lead, this can quickly add up.

3.    Domain Flipping

This is a tactic that is rarely used, but can be quite successful.  One of the keys to domain or website flipping is having a domain that has a good source of traffic.  You can set up a website that offers a free ebook, it can even be a free ebook that you were going to give to your list anyways.  By doing this several times over the period of a month or two, your website traffic can skyrocket.  You can then sell your domain for a higher price.  Most domain/website auction sites require 30, 60, or 90 days of traffic history, so plan accordingly.

Email marketing doesn’t have to be difficult, even with a list full of freebie seekers.  The key is to utilize the predictability of freebie seekers to profit from them.  Once you have done this, your email marketing campaign can be much more successful and profitable.

How To Profit From Your List

So you have set up a newsletter mailing list, preloaded your auto responder with top quality newsletter content and placed opt in forms on your website and blog.

What now?

You should keep several aims in mind in order to turn your putative subscriber mailing list into a healthy profit-generating resource for your Internet marketing business.

1. Establish yourself as an authority

2. Generate subscribers.

3. Build a relationship with your subscribers.

There is have a look at what you can do to achieve each of these aims.

1. One of the best ways to establish yourself as an authority, improve your ability to generate subscribers and build a relationship with them is to write a report about some aspect of the business that you are involved in. Offer your report as a free gift to new subscribers to encourage them to sign up to your list. When you offer a free report with your name on it, it will suggest to your potential subscribers that you have something unique to offer, and the expertise to back it up.

If you don’t yet have sufficient expertise in your business area, or if you hate the idea of writing your own report, you can either hire somebody to write it for you, or look out for a top quality PLR report that you can use as the basis for your own material.

Hiring somebody to do it for you need not be as expensive as you may imagine. There are plenty of qualified people out there who are willing to write good quality reports at a reasonable rate. You can find them on outsourcing websites such as elance.com. For good quality PLR reports, check out Niche Content Packages.

2. If your autoresponder has an RSS option for your newsletter, be sure to make use of it. The RSS option on your autoresponder enables your subscribers to retrieve and read your newsletter messages via their preferred RSS reader instead of via an email client.

3. Make your newsletter work together with your blog. Whenever you post report on your blog, let your subscriber list know about it and invite them to read it and post comments. At the same time, be sure to mention your newsletter in your blog post. This will help to add a sense of community to your blog and your newsletter subscriber base, and by linking them up you are sure to get more readers for your blog and more subscribers to your newsletter.

4. Make use of social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter. Whenever you send out a broadcast to your newsletter mailing list, or post an update to your blog, be sure to tweet about it and mention it on Facebook. Facebook and twitter should serve as funnels to bring traffic to your blog and onward to your newsletter mailing list.

5. Whenever somebody leaves a comment on your blog, or contact you via Facebook, twitter, or some other social networking site with a question about your business, ask them if you can discuss the question in detail in a newsletter mailing to your whole list. Again, this technique will build a sense of community, establish your authority in the field, and provide you with something topical to write about.

Whenever somebody asks you a question about your business, they are providing you with an important hint as to what is on people’s minds at the moment. Be sure to take advantage of it to make your newsletter articles topical, and useful for your readers.

If you are not yet in a position where people come to you to ask you questions, then you can generate your own questions by reading other people’s blogs, and other topical newsletters and articles. Respond to the articles with questions, and see if you get a response. If the writer responds, then you have just generated some news material for your subscriber list. And if there is no response, you can try answering the question yourself for the benefit of your list.

By adopting these techniques for your newsletter mailing list, you will be going a long way towards establishing yourself as an authority, generating new subscribers, and building a relationship with your subscriber base. This in turn will reap its rewards in terms of a much higher rate of conversion for your marketing campaigns. The money is in the list, but only if you nurture it.

God bless,
Marty Petrizza

One of the most powerful ways of making money on the Internet is to use your website and blog as platforms from which you can build an e-mail subscriber list. However, generating fresh subscribers to your list will not make you any money if you do not position yourself as the expert in their eyes and make people feel that you are worth listening to.

How can you do that, especially if you are not yet an Internet marketing expert?

One quick and easy solution is to preload your auto responder with a series of pre-written newsletters that have been written by somebody who is an expert. Or you could send out a series of PLR articles and reports to your list. If you want to do this, it is essential that you choose only the best quality material for your subscribers. In this way, you will be able to offer your growing subscriber base the kind of valuable information that they are seeking without having to write it yourself.

Once you have set up this system it will work on autopilot. You will have an automated e-mail series, and if it is well written, and fits in well with your main offer, you will probably be able to generate some business from it. There are, however, a couple of disadvantages with this quick fix “this automated marketing” method.

1. If you send out unmodified PLR material to your subscribers, there is no guarantee that they will not read the same material elsewhere on the Internet. Your claim to being a unique authority will then be undermined.

2. This method of communicating with your list lacks the vital ingredients of spontaneity and topicality. The material you are sending out is not the freshest, and if you do not regularly update your preloaded material, it will gradually go stale. Fewer and fewer of your subscribers will read your e-mail newsletter, and of those who do read it, fewer will respond. If we are honest about it, there is no such thing as a 100% automated online business that yields high conversion rates on autopilot.

That does not mean that you should stop sending out PLR material to your list. However, there are other things that you should do as well.

1. Before sending out prewritten newsletters, modify some of the content to make it more uniquely your own. Stamp your own identity on the material you are using.

2. Review your newsletter series several times per year. Eliminate anything that is now out of date, and be sure to add information about new developments related to the theme of your newsletters.

3. Make use of the “broadcast” feature on your auto responder to send out extra mailings with the latest news content in them. This is an especially valuable way to communicate new developments and new ideas to your subscribers. It will also add the vital elements of spontaneity and topicality to your newsletter service, making it much more likely that people will want to read your mailings.

In short, your e-mail newsletter is one of the most valuable resources that you have for making money on the Internet, so you won’t regret it if you don’t neglect it.

Everybody who has been involved with Internet marketing for any amount of time will have come across the phrase, “the money is in the list”. Another key term which Internet marketers often hear is “automation”. The two phrases often go together.

For example, it is often said that you need to grow and automate your mailing list by using a professional auto responder to gather e-mail addresses and automatically send out a regular series of e-mail newsletters.

But is this really true?

Is it really true that an automated newsletter that has not been updated for the last 6 to 12 months will be more responsive than up-to-the-minute topical mailings that you write and broadcast to your list on a daily or weekly basis?

I don’t think so.

Of course, an automated newsletter series comes with a lot of benefits. For example, whenever somebody signs up to your newsletter via a squeeze page, they will be automatically plugged in to your message. They may like what they read and purchase your products or services. You will have converted a lead into customer without having done any work.

But don’t imagine that that customer will stick around if you do not build on the relationship. And you can’t build a strong relationship with your customers by relying completely on automation. At some stage you will need to intervene on a personal level, or lose the customer.

Also, be aware that automated newsletter is soon begin to go stale. An automated newsletter cannot be too topical, because it will soon sound dated. So, once you have set up an automated newsletter series, it is important to review it every once in awhile, update the content and cut out anything that is no longer relevant.

In addition, to build a more personal relationship with your list, send out a series of broadcasts in addition to the automated mailings, or even base your whole campaign on up-to-the-minute broadcasts. What you write and post today will be very topical. You can include authentic personal details about what you have been doing and thinking about in relation to the theme of your newsletter. Your broadcasts will be fresh and unique, and people will appreciate the fact that you are making a personal effort to keep them updated about developments in your market niche.

You see, in the end, it is not the automation of the newsletter but the cultivation of the relationship between you and your list that really matters if you want to build your business.

Also, what is more important? The size of the list or the quality of the lead? Here again, although it is true that Internet marketing is “a numbers game” it does not necessarily mean that the highest number yields the best results.

If you can recruit one good lead into your business day, and cultivate a relationship with that lead based on fresh up-to-the-minute e-mail broadcasts, you will probably get much better results than you would if you concentrated on pulling in a few thousand low quality leads to a list that works 100% on autopilot with the newsletter series thatis never updated.

Sure, the money is in the list, but you will only get your money out of the list, if you build a high-quality list, and then build a solid business relationship with each person on that list.
