For thirty years, my identity was forged in the digital fires of Cybersecurity. My life was a resume of achievements: prestigious titles, a string of certifications, ever-increasing responsibility, and the comforting illusion of stability. It wasn't just a career; it was the very architecture of who I was. I was the man who protected networks, who built digital fortresses, who understood the language of risk and mitigation. My purpose was clear, my path was set, and my value was measured in the systems I secured.
And then, in the span of a single conversation, it was over. The door to that life, a door I had walked through for three decades, didn't just close—it was sealed shut. No one prepares you for the profound silence that follows when the defining noise of your life is suddenly muted. The loss was heavy, a palpable weight on my chest.
